INSTALLATION OPTIONS FOR TILT + TURN WINDOW SHADES
Seven ways to mount a shade that travels with the window.
Blinds for tilt and turn windows require specialized installation methods so the window sash can tilt inward and swing open without hitting the shade. Our unique shades mount directly to the moveable part of the window — not the ceiling or the wall — and stay flush with the window.
Tilt it. Swing it open. The blind moves with the window.
HOW IT WORKS
The blind mounts directly to the moving part of your tilt and turn window
As a result, our blinds stay with the window as you tilt it inward or swing it open. The window moves freely without hitting the blind, and the blind stays flush instead of swinging away from the glass. With no dangling cords or wands, you maintain clean operation along with control of light and privacy in every window position.
Our blinds can be installed using seven different mounting methods, designed to accommodate variations in glazing bead depth, window construction and personal installation preference.

§
Two mounting categories
Our seven installation methods fall into two primary categories: inside mount, where the blind is positioned within the glazing bead, and face mount, where the blind attaches to the the face of the moving window or the window sash.
§
Four no-drill options
Four of the available options allow for secure installation without drilling into the window frame. Non-drill options include adhesive strips or brackets, window clip, and clamp-based mounting systems.
§
Designed for many window profiles
The appropriate installation method depends on glazing bead depth, window construction, blind model and personal mounting preference. More than one option may work for a particular window.
OPTION #1 | INSIDE-MOUNT | DRILL
Between-the-Bead Inside Mount (Drill)
Inside-mount installations position the blind within the inner glazing bead of the window. Brackets are drilled into the top and bottom of the glazing bead for a minimal, recessed installation.
At a Glance
The standard installation method. Requires a minimum glazing bead depth of 18mm (11/16″).
The Specs
Installation option inside the glazing bead with brackets secured by drilling a footplate (clamping or tension shoe) into the bead ceiling and the bead bottom with one 3/4" screw per footplate. Provides a minimalist and secure fit within the window recess. Footplate size: 1⁄4”h x 1”w x 1⁄2”d. Requires a bead depth of 11/16" or 18mm. Note: Honeycomb, pleated and Venetian blinds are 1" deep and will protrude past any bead that is under 1".
OPTION #2 | INSIDE-MOUNT | NON-DRILL
Between-the-Bead Inside Mount Adhesive Strips (Non-Drill)
This inside-mount method positions the blind within the inner glazing bead without drilling into the window. Adhesive strips attach directly to the glass, with brackets at the top and bottom to secure the blind.
At a Glance
A non-drill inside-mount option. No minimum glazing bead depth is required because the adhesive strips attach directly to the glass and hold the mounting footplates.
The Specs
Installation option inside the glazing bead using adhesive strips that attach directly to the glass pane. Brackets inserted to the top and bottom of the strip secure the blind. Strip size: 1/2”w x 3/16”d | bracket insert: 1⁄4”h x 1”w x 1 5/8”d (standard for honeycomb) | small bracket insert: 1⁄4”h x 1”w x 1 1/8”d (special request). No minimum bead depth is required. Can be used on windows and doors with no bead as adhesive strips adhere to the glass. Note: Honeycomb, pleated and Venetian blinds are 1" deep and will protrude past any bead that is under 1" deep.
The extended bracket inserted at the top and bottom is standard at 1 5/8" deep for honeycomb shades. A 1" deep short bracket insert is standard for pleated shades, roller shades, and Venetian blinds. A 1" deep bracket is also available for honeycomb shades upon request (not recommended for windows that receive a lot of sunlight). The adhesive strips can be removed from the glass without a trace but the original adhesive is not re-useable.
OPTION #3 | FACE-MOUNT | DRILL
Face Mount Glazing Bead Bracket (Drill)
This face-mount method positions the blind on the front of the glazing bead rather than within the recessed bead area. Compact brackets are drilled directly to the face of the glazing bead.
At a Glance
A discreet drill option for windows with glazing beads that are too shallow or narrow for a between-the-bead installation.
The Specs
Installation option on the front glazing bead on the face of the window frame. Uses four glazing bead brackets each secured with two 1/2" screws. Suitable for narrower (under 18mm or 11/16") glazing beads (such as with triple glazed windows). Glazing bead bracket size: 7/8”h x 1”w x 13/16”d. Check the space between the back of the handle and the frame to ensure there is greater than 1" to clear the blind.
OPTION #4 | FACE-MOUNT | NON-DRILL
Face Mount Adhesive Bracket (Non-Drill)
This face-mount method attaches the blind directly to the window sash without drilling. Adhesive brackets secure to the sash, with a small lip that rests over or under its edge.
At a Glance
A non-drill alternative that uses adhesive brackets attached to the face of the window sash.
The Specs
Installation option on the window sash using adhesive brackets with no drilling or screws required. The brackets have a lip that rests just under/over the sash. For aluminum and uPVC windows only. Adhesive bracket size: 2”h x 1”w x 1 1/8"d and 3/16"d lip. Check the space between the back of the handle and the frame to ensure there is greater than 1" to clear the blind.
OPTION #5 | FACE-MOUNT | NON-DRILL
Face Mount Window Clip (Non-Drill)
This face-mount method uses expandable clips that secure directly over the window sash without drilling or screws. The blind remains attached to the sash as the window tilts or swings open.
At a Glance
A non-drill option that uses expandable clips that attach to the window sash with a minimal profile.
The Specs
Installation option on the window sash using a clip that secures on the sash without drilling or screws. Adjustment range of clips: 12mm to 23mm (7/16" to 7/8"). Clip size: 1 1/8”h x 7/16"w x 3/4”d. Check the space between the back of the handle and the frame to ensure there is greater than 1" to clear the blind.
OPTION #6 | FACE-MOUNT | NON-DRILL
Face Mount Clamp Bracket (Non-Drill)
This face-mount method uses clamp brackets that secure around the window sash without drilling or screws. The brackets hold the blind to the moving sash while leaving the glazing bead untouched.
At a Glance A non-drill clamp installation that requires sufficient clearance above and below the moving sash.
The Specs
Installation option on the window sash using a clamp bracket that secures without drilling or screws. Clamp size: 1”h x 13/16”w x 2”d. Check the space between the back of the handle and the frame to ensure there is greater than 1" to clear the blind.
OPTION #7 | FACE-MOUNT | DRILL
Face Mount Angle Bracket (Drill)
This face-mount method uses angle brackets drilled directly to the window sash. The bracket design allows the blind to be positioned on the face of the moving window.
At a Glance
A drill-mounted face option that provides flexibility in positioning the blind on the sash.
The Specs
Installation option using an angle bracket, secured with drilling, and mounted on the window sash. Each bracket requires two screws. Angle bracket size: 1 3/8”h x 5/8”w x 7/8”d. Check the space between the back of the handle and the frame to ensure there is greater than 1" to clear the blind.
